THE date has not yet been set, but Bury Council officials are still working hard to make sure all eligible residents can have their say on polling day.
Staff will be sending forms to households in the borough over the autumn to compile a new electoral register.
This will be the basis for the local elections next May, as well as the General Election when that takes place.
By completing and returning the form, Bury’s voters will be making sure they will be able to have their say on what matters to them.
Mark Sanders, electoral registration officer, said: “It’s simple to register. All you have to do is complete the annual canvass form that will be coming through your letter box, and you’ll be able to help choose the people that make the decisions which affect your everyday life.
“For some people, this may be the first general election that they get to take part in and they may be worried about what to do.”
