A COUNCILLOR has been ordered to apologise to colleagues after she broke town hall rules.
In January, Cllr Dorothy Gunther voted in favour of a proposal to merge The Derby and Radcliffe Riverside high schools, without revealing she was a governor at The Derby.
Her vote did not make any difference to the outcome, but the councillors’ code of conduct states members must declare personal interests they have on topics up for discussion.
At a standards committee meeting last night, Cllr Gunther admitted she made a mistake and verbally apologised.
But the committee demanded she make a written apology, which Bury Council will publish. She must also go for training on the code of conduct.
A committee spokesman added: “There was also a general point raised at the end encouraging all councillors to familiarise themselves with the code of conduct.”
Cllr Gunther was unavailable for comment this morning.
