A BURY teacher who groomed a 13-year-old girl he met on the internet admitted having sex with her.
Matthew Knott, aged 24, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and meeting a child following sexual grooming at Manchester Crown Court.
Knott taught science at Elton High School in Bury.
The offences were carried out in May of this year.
Knott, of Miles Platting, Manchester met the girl, who cannot be identified but was not a pupil at his school, on at least two occasions.
He joined the school in September last year and it is believed to have been his first teaching job.
Bury Metropolitan Borough Council said that he was suspended from the school when the allegations emerged and parents received a letter from the headteacher about the incident.
Knott will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on September 30.
