A SLIMMER from Ramsbottom put her new-found fitness to the test in the name of charity.
Sarah Semple, of Peel Brow, teamed up with three friends to complete a gruelling eight-mile challenge.
The all-girl team were the first female group to cross the finish line in the challenge, organised by Prestwich Athletics Club.
Sarah, a consultant at Slimming World in Edenfield, decided to take on the task after losing two stones in weight.
Her weight has dropped from 11st 12lbs to 9st 11lbs since August last year, an achievement made extra special by scooping first place in last month’s event.
Sarah, a PE teacher at a school in Oldham, said: “Exercise and obesity is a huge issue and I want to highlight the importance of a healthy diet. I would not have been able to complete this event last August.
“Now I feel great and am much fitter and stronger. I wanted to do the event as a challenge and I was thrilled to win a prize.”
The team — made up of Sarah and colleagues, Jayne Roberts, and sisters Trish and Kate Emeny — ran through streams, under tunnels and cargo nets, and over rope bridges.
They finished the Prestwich race in just over two hours.
All money raised from the event will go to various Bury charities.
