A HARDY band of helpers will be given a sneak preview of Bury’s new £3.7 million Fusiliers Museum on Saturday, weeks before the building officially opens to the public.
A special reception to mark the opening of the museum and regional headquarters in Broad Street will be attended by those who have associated with the project. However, the doors of the museum will not be thrown open to the general public until June.
Museum curator, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Glover said: “This weekend’s reception is for volunteers, builders and others who have been involved throughout. This is an in-house event to say thank you to them.”
The building is scheduled to welcome members of the public for the first time on Saturday, June 27 and will undergo an official opening in September.
The main facility will be housed in the former Arts and Craft Centre in Broad Street and will chronicle the Fusiliers’ 300-year history, as well as showing how Bury has developed as a town over the same period.
