CASTLEBROOK High School has launched a house system with the support of four leading businessmen.
At a formal ceremony, Castlebrook High in Unsworth was blessed with the presence of two eminent business leaders whose names were being incorporated into the blue, yellow, green and red houses.
Professor Steve Furber and Mr Ian Simpson were present for a stars and praise reward assembly. Unfortunately, Lord Norman Foster and Mr Wayne Hemingway were unable to attend due to work commitments.
The quartet were chosen because of their links to science and technology, and the North West. They were selected from a shortlist of eight names drawn up by the school council.
Guests, who also included the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, were accompanied by school governors on a tour of the Parr Lane establishment and saw some students at work in their classrooms. They also observed youngsters taking part in building walls in the school’s construction centre.
During the assembly, awards were presented to the students who had achieved 100 per cent attendance and who had achieved success in school since September 2009.
Castlebrook’s choir also provided entertainment with a musical performance.
