BURY band Elbow have been nominated in three categories at this year’s Brit Awards.
It was announced on Tuesday that the band will battle it out to be named best British group, best British live act, and best British album for ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’.
But the five-piece have tough competition for the awards from acts including Radiohead, Coldplay, Duffy, and Girls Aloud.
The winners will be revealed during a glittering ceremony at Earls Court in London on February 18, presented by Kylie Minogue, James Corden and Mathew Horneat .
Elbow, whose career has spanned 18 years since getting together at Stand College in Whitefield, have had cause to celebrate since their fourth album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ scooped the 2008 Nationwide Mercury Music Prize in September.
They will begin a nationwide tour next month and are set to cover a classic U2 track for the new War Child Heroes album, which is due for release on February 16.
Elbow have also been honoured at the annual South Bank Show Awards in London. The band were named winners of the pop award ahead of Laura Marling and Estelle.
