THESE are the latest artists’ impressions of how the massive £350 million Rock Triangle development will look when it is completed.
They highlight the distinct retail and leisure dimensions to the scheme which is due to open in 2010. As reported in last week’s Bury Times, developers Thornfield have given their commitment to completing the massive regeneration project despite the credit crunch.
Andrew Sanderson, the company’s Leeds-based development director, said: “Thornfield is well set to deliver this major project in the face of tough market conditions and we are delighted that work is in full swing on this major regeneration project for Bury.”
A new Primary Care Trust medical centre is due to open in the autumn, offering a wide range of services from child health care and dentistry to minor surgery, GP-led health centre and a pharmacy. Contrary to last week’s Bury Times report, there will be no A&E department.
The retail and leisure part of the scheme will open in summer 2010. Debenhams and Marks and Spencer anchor the development, with a further 50 shop units making a total of 500,000 sq ft of retail space.
And the leisure facilities include a ten-screen Vue Cinema, 25-lane AMF bowling alley and eight further family restaurants, including a Pizza Express. There will also be 408 new residential apartments and a 1,250 space multi-storey car park.
