IT is not every day a chart-topping act plays live in your living room.
But that was exactly the case for Bury couple Den and Lisa Kenyon who, last Wednesday hosted a gig by London-based UK pop band Scouting For Girls in their home in Inglewood Close.
The band, made up of Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard, performed a number of hits including their latest release, It’s Not About You.
The band’s visit was arranged as part of Manchester’s radio station Key 103’s Down Your Street competition. Station DJs Mike Toolan and Chelsea Norris broadcast their breakfast show, and the Scouting For Girls’ gig, from the Kenyons’ house.
Vicky Sanders, from Key 103, said: “We have been asking listeners to put forward their street to win one of four street parties happening throughout August.
“The winning streets will get a party to remember with some of the charts biggest stars to perform live plus a Key 103 show will be transmitting live from the party.
“Mr and Mrs Kenyon won the first Down Your Street as we felt that their entry showed real community spirit. They have been residents of that particular street for many years and wanted to give everyone a good party to celebrate their friendships. They were perfect winners and hosts, we all enjoyed the event and Scouting For Girls have promised that they will go back and see them!”
