A baroque ensemble is set to perform at Bury Parish Church this Friday lunchtime.

Telemann Baroque Ensemble is directed by Peter Collier and the players are established soloists and orchestral members.

They will be performing a number of pieces from their repertoire in a lunchtime concert at Bury Parish Church at 12.30pm on Friday, November 29.

Mr Collier is the director of Baroque Week Summer School which is now in its 43rd year and he has built up a library of several thousand music scores which are used by Telemann Baroque Ensemble.

The group has recently appeared at a variety of venues including Tatton Park, Walton Hall and Manchester Cathedral.

Flutist, Alistair Roberts, is part of a wind trio and plays with a number of orchestras like the Cheshire Sinfonia and Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra.

Viola player John Goodstadt studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He plays regularly with Stockport Symphony Orchestra and Wilmslow Opera and plays a viola made in Italy from the early 17th century.

Cellist Roger Bisby has been a theatre orchestra musician all his life and has played in various groups, however his main commitments nowadays are with the Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra and the Telemann Baroque Ensemble.

Violinist Elaine Turnock was one of the first girls to be awarded a place at Chetham’s School of Music when it became co-educational.

She has played with various orchestras in the North West, leading the Sale Chamber Orchestra and for 30 years has led the Carlton Ensemble and the Serenade Quartet.

Tickets will cost £5 on the door and refreshments will be on sale from 11.30am.
