Storm Bert forced the postponement of Paddy McGuinness' stand-up gig in Oxford last night.

The Bolton comic, who is currently touring the UK, arrived at the New Theatre Oxford, and said he was gutted that the gig had to be pulled.

Addressing his 2.1M followers on Instagram the Radio 2 presenter said last night: "I'm absolutely gutted.

"The ceiling is leaking. They said they were going to keep their eye on it but it has got worse and worse.

"Gutted, it is a beautiful theatre but its all over the electrics, sorry about that, what can I do.

"Got to respect the decision of the theatre because the staff are amazing, if they could have put the show on they would have done.

"Hopefully fingers crossed, I can get back in the new year we can do it again."

Paddy said he was gutted for everyone who had "bought tickets, booked babysitters" and travelled in the horrendous weather.

In a statement the theatre said yesterday: “Unfortunately owing to severe weather conditions causing water ingress, tonight’s performance of Paddy McGuinness has had to be postponed.

"All patrons will be contacted by their points of sale. We will be aiming to reschedule this performance. New Theatre Oxford would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Paddy won the support of the nation as he took part in an epic bike ride for Children in Need.

Yesterday, Paddy also revealed how much his ultra endurance challenge had raised for Children in Need - £10,319,707.
