Emergency services have been called reports of someone “missing” in a river.
Firefighters were called to the scene close to Bamford Road, Heywood at around 10.30am on the morning of Sunday November 24 to reports someone was missing in the River Roch.
They carried out a search alongside mount rescue teams and coast guard units in boats.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 10.30am this morning, Sunday November 24, firefighters were called to a location near Bamford Road in Heywood following reports of a person missing in the water at the River Roch.
“Three fire engines from Rochdale and Heywood fire stations, along with the Water Incident Unit from Heywood and the Technical Rescue Unit from Ashton fire stations quickly arrived at the scene.

“Crews are working hard to carry out a thorough search of the area, with support from colleagues at Mountain Rescue and the Maritime Coast Guard utilising boats, drones and a helicopter."
As of Sunday afternoon firefighters remained at the scene but by around 4.40pm the same day the incident had been handed over to Greater Manchester Police.
Members of the public have been advised to always call 999 in the event of an emergency.
