Drivers have been hit by heavy delays over Sunday after the motorways were hit by flooding.
A lane was closed on the M66 southbound between Junction 1, the Summerseat Interchange, and Junction 2, the Heap Bridge Interchange after the road was hit by flood water.
This came after heavy rainfall earlier on the morning of Sunday November 24 and led to miles of traffic building up.
A National Highways North West Statement said: “One lane is closed on the M66 southbound between Junction 1 and Junction 2 near Bury due to flooding.
“We're working to the clear floodwater.
“Delays in excess of 45 minutes, approximately three miles of congestion.”
That same day part of the M56 was also closed between Junction 4, the Wythenshawe Interchange and Junction 5, the Airport Interchange, because of fallen cables.

This again caused traffic to build up but by around 1.30pm on Sunday National Highways North West announced that the scene had been cleared at the road was open again.
This came after a weekend of flooding as the region was battered by Storm Bert on Saturday, with parts of Ramsbottom, Rossendale and Radcliffe all hit by rising water levels.
Further afield flooding was also reported in Burnley over the course of Saturday.
