A reverse job fair is set to be hosted by Bury Adult Learning next week.

The event on Friday, November 29 will provide an opportunity for employers and local businesses to connect with learners.

This event will see various employers, including Thales Ltd, Willmott Dixon, Rochdale Valley Radio, and Persona, among others, chat with learners described as 'neurodivergent' about work and volunteering opportunities.

The initiative is part of the Bury's LET'S Strategy 2030, which aims to address the barriers around the low employment rate of neurodivergent individuals.

Nikki Naylor, programme manager for work and wellbeing at Bury Adult Learning Service, hopes to "flip" the traditional job fair format.

She wants to see employers visiting learners to talk about opportunities, while learners get a chance to showcase their skills and aspirations.

Cllr Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture, economy, and skills, said: "Adult Learning provide such a wonderful resource for anyone looking to increase their skills and develop themselves.

"In Bury, we offer a wide range of courses and support employment opportunities.

"This reverse job fair is one of many amazing examples of how our adult learning team support our learners to achieve their goals.

"A big thanks of course goes to the businesses and employers that are supporting this event and opening up their opportunities to our adult learners.

"It's that spirit of working together that makes Bury a place where everyone can share in success."

Cllr Tamoor Tariq, deputy leader and cabinet member for adult care, health and well-being, added: "This is an excellent opportunity for our adult learners to showcase their skills and work to local Bury employers.

"I am always proud of what our adult learners achieve throughout their courses and look forward to seeing more success stories thanks to events and job fairs like this one."

The job fair is scheduled for November 29 from 1pm to 3pm at the Bury Adult Learning Centre.
