A social care facility which was in "special measures" has been praised after its latest inspection from the healthcare watchdog.

Revelation Social Care Ltd, based at Warth Business Centre in Bury, was visited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on June 26 before inspectors finished on July 18, giving it a score of "good".

The service was previously inspected by the CQC in April last year and was marked as "inadequate" and put into "special measures".

The latest inspection found that the service was supporting seven people, and the assessors looked at areas where breaches were identified which related to safe care and treatment, good governance and staffing.

The service provides care to people living in their own houses and users are helped with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating as well as being given medicines and treatments.

It was found that the service had made significant improvements and was no longer in any breach of regulations and is now out of "special measures".

The report said: “Recruitment of staff was now safe.

"Staff now received the training and support needed to carry out their roles safely and effectively.

“Areas of risk were now effectively assessed and planned for ensuring the safety of people.

“Records also now reflected people’s capacity and consent or where decisions were made in the persons best interest, ensuring their rights were upheld.

“The management and administration of people’s prescribed medicines was now safe. Effective governance systems had been implemented.”

The service had been in "special measures" since May 30 last year, but the service has demonstrated that improvements have been made and it is no longer rated as "inadequate" overall or in any of the key areas it is assessed in.

The CQC spoke with two people who receive care from the service and three relatives about their experience of using the service.

The report said: “People said staff kept them safe and had the knowledge and skills needed to support them in a way they wanted and needed.

“We were told, 'The staff seem very confident in what they do, and some have told me about having changed rotas to be able to attend training sessions' and 'I always feel completely safe in their care'.

“People and their relatives felt able to raise issues or concerns and were confident managers would listen and act on what they were told.”

Other comments said that the registered manager and office staff were very committed to providing a good service and their communications have improved.
