Travellers who parked up on a Ramsbottom park this week have been issued with a notice to leave.

A number of caravans arrived at one of the car parks earlier this week, with three still being present on Wednesday, November 7.

Bury Council have issued a notice for the group to leave the land.

If the group do not leave, the local authority may take legal action.

In a post on social media on Tuesday, Cllr Gareth Staples-Jones, who represents Ramsbottom, said: “Officers visited the site today to issue the direction notice.

“This is a legal document which directs all Travellers to vacate the site with 24 hours notice.

“The document will be served on each caravan/motorhome on site as well as being displayed prominently at the site entrance(s).

“Officers will now visit the site to check the Travellers have left and if not officers will prepare witness statements and court documents/evidence and contact legal services and request the court order to be issued.”
