A teenager has been charged in connection with an investigation into a sexual assault in Bury town centre on Friday evening.

Eskhaq Sadat, 18, of Bury, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, with one in relation to an incident in Sussex in 2023.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court today, Monday.

Detective Sergeant Ellen Nasim, from Greater Manchester Police's Bury district, said: “Tackling violence against women and girls, including sexual violence, is a matter of priority for Greater Manchester Police.

"Any form of sexual violence, abuse or harassment is unacceptable and we take reports of this nature very seriously.

“If you or someone you know has been a victim of rape or sexual assault, we encourage you not to suffer in silence and report it to the police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
