A new dance scheme is launching in Bury next month which gives youngsters the chance to get involved in an upcoming Eurovision project.

Bury Youth Dance is coming to The Met theatre in November and hopes to bridge the gap between commercial companies and formal dance schools.

They are keen to hear from youngsters aged 11 to 18 who have dance experience in any style and are looking to build on their technical and performance skills.

For their first performance, Bury Youth Dance will have the opportunity to participate in a new dance film to be shared as part of Manchester’s Eurovision Party, which will be taking place next year.

Working alongside choreographer Rosie Hynes, they will perform an interval act piece to be screened in a 4D environment at the event.

Rosie said: “I’m incredibly excited to welcome a fresh wave of talent to Bury Youth Dance.

“The amazing opportunities ahead include taking part next year in Manchagen, the UK's largest Eurovision screening, in front of thousands of people.

“The performance takes place in an immersive performance space in Manchester and will be screened across Europe!

“Bury Youth Dance promises to be a unique training opportunity for young dancers that places inclusion, diversity and excellence at the forefront and I’m thrilled to be leading this new project.”

The sessions will formally launch on Monday, November 4 from 7pm to 8.30pm with a free taster session where dancers can meet Rosie and learn a new routine.

They will then continue at The Met on Monday evenings during term time.

The scheme will help young people build experience and careers in the dance world, developing their skills and talents in contemporary styles as well as forging networks and connections with the thriving dance scene in Manchester and beyond.

With more than 16 years of teaching experience, Rosie specialises in physical and dance theatre and has been performing professionally for over 30 years, both nationally and internationally.

Her credits include Warner Brothers, Red Bull, Disney and NSCD.

Those interested in the sessions can find more details on The Met website.
