A couple of saxophonists will be showcasing their musical talent in Bury this week.
Taisiia Holovko, from Ukraine, and João Correia, from Portugal, who are studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), formed Contigo Saxophone Duo last year.
They are pursuing postgraduate master’s degrees at RNCM and share a deep passion for the classical saxophone.
Contigo is Portuguese, derived from the Latin word cumtecum. The closest English translation is "with you".
As music is an art created by people for people, the duo chose this name to reflect their mission of sharing a closer connection with their audience (contigo).
The duo are "dedicated to exploring a wide range of musical genres, from romantic compositions to modern classical works incorporating complex techniques like multiphonics and altissimo register".

Over the last year, they have performed at several concerts, showcasing their "unique blend of styles and technical skill".
They participated in a charity concert for Ukraine, where they "used their music to support a meaningful cause".
Looking ahead, the duo are "committed to continuing their collaboration and delivering beautiful, engaging performances for diverse audiences".
They will be playing at Bury Parish Church in a lunchtime concert at 12.30pm.
Tickets will be £5 on the door and refreshments will be served from 11.15am.
