A popular fireworks event previously held at Bury FC's Gigg Lane will not be going ahead this year.
The Shakers have made the decision after a new playing surface was installed this summer, deeming hosting the event as “not appropriate”.
The state-of-the-art 3G pitch was completed in August and opened to the public last month, providing the club with a permanent training base.
In a statement, the club said: “The club will not be hosting a fireworks display this year.
"Over the summer we installed a new playing surface and a display of this nature would not be appropriate.

"A number of supporters have enquired about this event over the past few weeks, with letting supporters know in advance then it helps to plan to attend other events.
We hope you can understand.”
The news received mixed reactions on social media, with several commenters praising the club.
One said: “Literally protect what has been hard-earned and donated! Protect the ground, get your kicks in many other displays in Bury.”
Another said: “Good. Well played Bury.
"Fireworks are bad on so many levels. As a fulcrum of the community it is great to see you not bowing to pressure to hold one simply because that's the way it's always been.”

However, others criticised the move with a handful of people suggesting that the club could use protective covers on the new playing surface.
A disgruntled fan said: “Oh well you know the best, another revenue earner gone and event taken away for the community.”
Another person added: "Oh, my kids will be devastated. Really enjoyed it last time which was our first time, I was hoping it would be on again."
The decision comes after Manchester City Council recently announced that they would not be hosting any firework events across the city centre borough, including at Heaton Park, for the fifth year in a row.
