Emergency services were called after a gas leak at a house this afternoon, Sunday.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were called to a house on Bury Road in Tottington at around 4.45pm.
Three crews from Bury, Whitefield and Ramsbottom stations attended but the leak had already been stopped before they arrived.
Network Cadent Gas arrived and said it "appears a cooker was accidentally turned on and there was a smell of gas".
A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At just before 4.45pm on Sunday, October 13, three fire engines from Bury, Whitefield and Ramsbottom fire stations were called to reports of a gas leak at a house on Bury Road, Tottington.
“The leak had been stopped before firefighters arrived.
"Crews carried out safety checks in the property before handing over to colleagues from Cadent Gas.
“GMFRS were in attendance for around 35 minutes.”
A spokesperson for Cadent Gas said: "We were asked to attend by the fire service as a precaution.
"It appears a cooker was accidentally turned on and there was a smell of gas.
"Everything has been made safe and we have since left the site."
One eyewitness said “about eight sirens flew past” while another saw “lots of police and fire engines near the Juniper and Vine pub".
