Food lovers are once again flocking to what used to be the Automatic restaurant to enjoy dishes from around the world.

The venue has opened once again hosting 'pop-up kitchens' which are proving hugely popular.

The Met launched the new offer last month with Soul Shack serving up Caribbean food, which ran until last week.

Customers can enjoy their food in the Malt Bar whilst enjoying drinks in their grade two listed building.

Today Mama Sue's will be taking over the Pop-Up Kitchen and on the menu will be loaded hotdogs and burgers, spiced in-house and made locally plus smaller plates from Quesadillas to three-cheese mac and sides such as paprika aioli fries, toasted corn salad and zingy red slaw.

Owner of Soul Kitchen behind Soul Shack, Marie Powell said: “It has been a lovely experience at The Met. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and I have loved every minute, it’s such a positive vibe.”

She added: “We are based at Radcliffe Market, which is not well known and we need to put that on the map too as we have wonderful places to eat here also.”

"There are nine great food outlets from the Caribbean, Thai, Indian, pizza, Mexican, Japanese, burgers and British food, something to eat for every palate.

"It also has a great vibe and wonderful atmosphere with repeat customers each week."

Maie said: “Unfortunately I will be closed for nine weeks after this due to the refurbishments in the market basement and will be back open first week in December. “

CEO of The Met Victoria Robinson said: "We're delighted to offer the residents of Bury something new with our Pop Up kitchen at The Met.

"We're looking forward to an offer which will include delicious Caribbean food, sourdough pizzas, Tibetan curries, hot dogs and much more!"

She added: "The Met is keen to support the development of smaller businesses by giving them a central high street location and we can’t wait to work with a range of partners to make this happen."

Mamma Sue's will run during the first half of this month before Tibetan Kitchen serves up food.

November will see Kamilah Harris take over the kitchens before Dough So Good move into through December and January.

The pop-up kitchens are open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 4pm to 9pm in the former Automatic Café alongside Two Crows Arts Studio inside The Met.
