Road closures were in place in Bury town centre today, Wednesday, after a man suffered a "medical emergency".

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were called at around 11.15am after a man in his 70s fell ill on Knowsley Street.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said NWAS contacted the force to help with putting road closures in place in the area, including at the Jubilee Way and Manchester Road junction.

The closures have now been lifted with traffic reported to be easing in the area.

NWAS has been contacted for more information.
