A Bury primary school has been awarded for its commitment to inclusivity.
After a full-day inspection, St Stephen’s Church of England Primary School on Colville Drive was given the Inclusion Quality Mark.
Inspectors praised the school for instilling a passion for inclusivity from the top down, creating an "empowering environment where everyone can thrive".
The levels of children's enthusiasm and engagement were highlighted as evidence of the school's success in "nurturing confident, articulate, and resilient individuals".
The school's efforts prepare pupils not only academically but also emotionally and socially for future challenges and opportunities.
The inspection report highlighted several key areas of strength.
It noted that all staff at St Stephen’s could clearly express the school's vision and values for inclusion, and were aware of the backgrounds and needs of their pupils, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
Personal development was also identified as a strength of the school.
According to the report, children spoke about their school with pride and were eager to showcase their achievements.
The school was also commended for providing a range of experiences beyond academic outcomes, helping children to develop their talents and interests.
The report also noted that the school's staff were "fully aware of the demographic context of their school and ensure cultural diversity and equality is woven throughout the curriculum".
The behaviour and attitudes of the children were also praised.
The report noted that children felt "safe and happy" at the school and knew there was always someone available to talk to.
The school’s approach to behaviour management, using the mantra of "respond, reflect and repair," was also highlighted.
This approach allows children to engage in conversations with an adult, creating space for "healing and growth".
The report also noted the children's appreciation for the staff's dedication, particularly during lunchtime.
One child was quoted as saying: "They don’t do this for the money; they do it because they love us."
Parents were also complimentary about the school, stating how happy their children were at St Stephen’s and that "teachers always have time for you."
Mr Smith, the school's special educational needs coordinator, said: "This report showcases the exceptional offer our learners get.
"We are very proud of the work we do and the difference we make each and every day to the children and families of St Stephen's."
