We are delighted to present an audience with actor, Julie Hesmondhalgh, at the Theatre Royal in Ramsbottom, on Friday, October 4.
Julie is one of the North West’s finest actors, having played a wide range of roles across stage and television, including her famed appearance as Hayley Cropper, in ITV’s Coronation Street, where she made history playing the first transgender character in a UK soap.
Julie’s extensive roles have seen her star in hit TV shows, such as Happy Valley, Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which won the prestigious Impact Award at this year’s National Television Awards.
Julie has written about acting in her latest book, An Actor’s Alphabet.
In it she details the realities of the industry, drawing upon her decades of experience to share practical advice on how to best navigate it.
Julie is passionate about the arts and strives to make it more accessible and inclusive. She’ll no doubt be sharing some of these key insights when she joins us next month.
Not only is Julie a fantastic actress but she’s also an activist, who spearheaded a high profile campaign to save Oldham Coliseum from permanent closure.
The historic venue was forced to close its doors last April after more than 135 years, but was recently saved following the successful campaign to ensure its future.
It’s reported that Oldham Coliseum Theatre is set to reopen in 2025, just in time for pantomime season!
We couldn’t be more pleased to present an evening with Julie, which will be hosted by the wonderful comedian, Dr Kevin Jones.
All proceeds raised at the exclusive event will go towards supporting the patients and families of Bury Hospice.
Dr Jones said: “I am thrilled to be hosting the evening with Julie Hesmondhalgh, she’s such a great actress.
“I can’t wait to ask her about being Hayley Cropper in Corrie and her part in the incredible TV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
“Julie is a national treasure – a local lass who is loved for her acting but also for her social conscience and activism.”
The majority of tickets have now been sold, but there are a few still to be snapped up. You are advised to book your spot as soon as you can to not miss out!
Tickets are on sale now at £25 each. Visit ticketsource.co.uk/buryhospice to order tickets.
