The Labour government has embarked on a bold journey to build a Britain that truly belongs to us all and works for everyone.

Tough decisions made today are just the first step towards securing long-term benefits for the country.

While there may be short-term difficulties, it is the necessary foundation for a better future.

Shorter waiting times, higher living standards, and a stronger economy are within reach, and by acting decisively now, we can bring those gains to fruition sooner than ever.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Labour has returned to its roots – serving the working people of this country.

As the PM outlined in Liverpool this week, that work of change has already begun, and we are taking action across our society to rebuild the foundations of a better future.

We’ve made strides reforming and renewing. Planning systems are being reworked, doctors are returning to theatres, and new green energy projects are already underway.

Offshore wind and solar energy projects are growing, the onshore wind ban has been lifted, and Great British Energy has been launched.

Education reforms are also in motion, including one-word Ofsted judgements being ended.

The Renters Reform Bill will put an end to no-fault evictions, giving renters more security.

Our new Railway Services Bill will bring the railways back into public ownership.

A National Wealth Fund is being established to get Britain building again.

And, significantly, we’ve created a Border Security Command to safeguard our national security. And we are only just getting started.

This is a government of renewal – a government committed to unleashing the power of change for everyone.

We are building a country where every person, regardless of background, has an equal voice, making sure Britain works for us all in Bury North.

Change is already in motion. We are committed to growing the economy, building much-needed infrastructure, switching to clean energy, and mending our public services.

Yes, the £22bn black hole left by the Tories has made this more challenging, but we will not let it stop us from delivering for everyone across Bury and Britain.

The country has not been working as it should right now, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed.

The Tories drained the hope from the nation, but Labour will restore it.

The people of Bury and Britain put their faith in a reformed Labour Party because they knew we would deliver economic and national security – and above all, the change we so desperately need.
