A pedestrian is in a critical condition after a horror crash in which he was hit by his own vehicle.

The crash happened last night just before 1am when a BMW 4201 smashed into a Vauxhall Mokka, which was parked.

Officers say the force of the crash shunted the Vauxhall backwards and hit the victim, a man in his 70s, who was at the back of his vehicle.

He is condition is described as potentially life-threatening.

Emergency services were called to Park Lane, Broughton, close to Prestwich at 12.50pm.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "It is believed that a BMW 420i was travelling in a north easterly direction on Park Lane when it collided with a Vauxhall Mokka that was parked and stationary.

"Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

"They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
