Motorists are being a major route on the Prestwich and Salford border will be shut for resurfacing works

Works will take place on the junction of Bury New Road, Moor Lane and Singleton Road on the weekends of September 14 and 15 and September 21 and 22.

Works will include a new high friction road surface being applied, and the repainting of white lines and other road markings.

Some of the existing surface will be removed during the works which will be the noisiest part of the work and gutter covers and manhole lids will need to be reset.

Moor Lane and Singleton Road will be closed on September 14 between 8am to 1pm, September 15 between 9.30am to 5.30pm and September 21 between 8am to 1pm.

Bury New Road will be closed on September 22 between 9.30am to 5.30pm.

Bus services will be diverted, and temporary signals will be in operation.

The anticipated works completion date is October 7.

Residents access will be maintained at all times however there may be some hold ups while workers move equipment out of the way and make the area safe to pass.

A spokesperson for Salford City Council said: “The works have been carefully planned to minimise disruption to local traffic and the wider network, taking into account the density of residential properties in this area, other roadworks and local events.

“We believe it is the most effective and balanced approach that allows the works to be completed relatively quickly with some breaks for residents, but without causing a gridlock on the highway network.”
