A primary school has been found to be a warm and welcoming place where all are 'cared and valued'.
St Michael's RC Primary School in Whitefield received a glowing report after an inspection by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate.
The school was judged on its Catholic life and mission, religious education and collective worship and was given an overall score of ‘good’.

The report described the school as a place where pupils’ “behaviour is exemplary” and “a warm, welcoming inclusive community where all are cared for and valued.”
It also said: “The school's engagement with the wider community is innovative and wide-ranging.
“These successful collaborative relationships enrich the Catholic life of the school and local community.”
The report said that the school could further develop their curriculum in religious education to enhance opportunities and challenges for the children to express their creativity and understanding.

The report also added that the school could “deepen further the pupil leadership of prayer and worship so children can more confidently not just lead sessions but fully evaluate sessions, reflecting on and refining worship.”
Trish Grogan, headteacher, said: “The inspection is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our amazing staff, children, parents and governors.
“We are thrilled that our commitment to promoting religious education and fostering a respectful and harmonious environment with Christ at the centre, has been recognised and praised by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate.”

St Teresa of Calcutta Trust governs the school.
It's CEO Chris Foley, said: "We are delighted the CSI Inspectors recognised the transformation that has taken place at St Michael's over the last 12 months.
“The report notes how happy and well behaved the children of the school are.
“In 2024, pupils at the school achieved high outcomes in both phonics screening checks and KS2 SATs, which reflected the dedication and commitment of all the staff."
