A mural paying tribute to Oasis has been created on a borough pub wall ahead of the band's reunion tour next year.

The Coach and Horses pub in Whitefield is a short walk from Heaton Park where the Mancunian band will be playing five homecoming gigs next year.

Scott Wilcock, 37, who has a business called Snow Graffiti in Wigan, was commissioned by pub landlady, Sue Hawley, to create a monochrome mural of brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher.

He had previously worked on the prominent pub wall on Bury Old Road to create a football icons mural featuring Eric Cantona, George Best, Colin Bell and Sergio Aguero along with a pop icon display in the beer garden.

Within two hours of the much-anticipated reunion being announced last week, Scott was already working on the painting, using a mixture of spray and brush painting.

He said: “It took about nine hours to complete and the weather was not on my side that day! The wall is right on the main road and always gets lots of attention.

“Passersby were stopping to take pictures and asking what I was working on. Once it was finished, it got a good response.

“People were beeping as they went past and stopping to take selfies.”

Scott is self-taught and creates seasonal snow spray artwork alongside the graffiti-style paintings.

He has worked on promotional collaborations with international brands such as Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers and Fortnite.

Sue Hawley has been the landlady at the Coach and Horses for six years.

She has issued an open invitation to the Gallaghers and their bandmates to come and enjoy Joseph Holt beer or lager on the house when they come to town for the concerts.

Sue said: “The reaction has been phenomenal.

“It’s been fun watching people stop to take selfies, especially with their pets and some people have come dressed up in sunglasses and parkas.

“It’s attracted a lot of attention. We even had a man from LA who visited after reading about it online.

“Hopefully it will bring more trade ahead of the gigs and have a big beer garden for people to enjoy.

“It’s a class painting. We have our very own ‘Wonderwall’ now.

Scott’s wife managed to secure them a pair of tickets to the Britpop bands opening gig in Cardiff.

He added: “I grew up in the Oasis era and have always been a fan so am looking forward to seeing them live.

“We had heard rumours about a possible reunion on the bank holiday Monday so I did a snow design on my home window that evening.

“We’ve been inundated with bookings and have had so many comments on our social media posts to get through that I still haven’t got through them all yet.

“This will be my last painting of the year before I pack it all up and move on to snow designs ahead of Christmas. This was a good one to finish on.”

Oasis initially spilt up in 2009 and will be embarking on their reunion tour next year which includes dates in Manchester, Cardiff, London, Edinburgh and Dublin.
