A special exhibition is open at Bury Art Museum showcasing the wide range of artistic talent in the area.
Running throughout September, the exhibition celebrates Bury Art Society’s 75th anniversary.
A spokesperson for the society said: “Huge thanks go to Bury Art Museum for their expertise in once again hosting the exhibition, most particularly to museum curator Kat Au, who selected works from the collection and arranged loans from Bury Archives to form the 75th anniversary part of the exhibition.
“Thanks also go to members of the public who loaned items and provided information, and to the judges who selected the pictures and decided the winners."
The judges were Stephen Walton from Bury Art Museum, Gina Warburton from The Whitaker in Rawtenstall and 2022 Portrait Artist of the Year semi-finalist, Jude Wainwright.
It was officially opened by mayor of Bury, Cllr Khalid Hussain JP, on the August bank holiday weekend.
The mayor gave out six awards on the day with an additional six works being highly commended and commended.
During the exhibition, members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite painting which will be awarded the "Mary Shaw People’s Prize".
The society was founded in 1949 by William Bruce.
The first president was Walter Fletcher, then MP for Bury and a keen amateur water-colourist and later presidents included Salford artist L.S Lowry.
Members of the society will be painting in the museum gallery on Saturday, September 14.
They meet on Monday evenings at Blackburne Hall, Bury and welcome new members.
