An annual charity golf day bringing together golfers from businesses across Lancashire and Greater Manchester has raised £5,680 for a hospice charity.
Organised by Bury-based Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors (WHN), the annual golf day, now in its 16th year, was held at Rossendale Golf Club on June 5.
Twenty teams participated in a day mostly free of rain, to raise funds for Rossendale Hospice.
The victors were Prestfield Wealth Management, who also sponsored the 18th hole.
Not too far behind were the teams from JJH Properties and Bury BID, securing second and third place respectively.
Jimmy Whittles sponsored the longest drive competition, which was won by Andrew Lee of Horsfields' team.
The 18th hole competition was won by Adam Goody from Leonard Curtis, while the winner of nearest the pin was Roger Lingard of WHN, on the 13th.
Daniel Long, director of WHN, said: "Our annual charity golf day was even bigger and better this year.
"We doubled the funds raised from last year’s event, due to the huge generosity of our sponsors and guest teams.
"Over the past 16 years, through this popular event, we have raised over £85,000 for Rossendale Hospice.
"WHN has three offices in the Rossendale area and many of our team live in the borough, so supporting the hospice is an important part of our commitment to investing in the local communities we operate in.
"It is a cause close to our heart and we are delighted to continue to support its valuable work."
Rossendale Hospice provides care and support to patients living with life-limiting conditions including cancer.
Its services include complementary therapies, bereavement counselling, hospice at home, and a befriending service.
Joanna Williams, fundraising manager at Rossendale Hospice, said: "Once again, we are thrilled to be receiving a fantastic donation from the annual golf day at Rossendale Golf Club.
"Each year the support we receive from our corporate partners, WHN Solicitors, is overwhelming, and to be a part of the day too makes it even more special.
"Having the opportunity to also inform the guests about our vital services is extremely important in spreading the word about what we do, every day, to enhance the lives of our patients and their families."
