A Bury manufacturer has appointed an industry expert to its team.

Global cable and pipe seal manufacturer Roxtec aims to boost its industry and infrastructure team and has taken on George Light as its UK data centre market manager.

Mr Light joins Roxtec after 15 years operating his own business in the international data centre sector.

Roxtec Ltd managing director Clive Sharp said: "George joins the Roxtec team at a time of high growth for the business in the data centre industry."

The firm now boasts a wide clientele, providing products to all "hyperscale" data centres.

"The UK and Ireland is a key territory for driving growth across Europe," Mr Sharp added.

Mr Sharp expressed his delight in welcoming George to Roxtec and touted his appointment as a strategic move.

"We’ve seen significant demand in data centres over the last 10 years and that is being supercharged by AI," he said.

He revealed the firm is currently working with some of the biggest tech firms worldwide, a position he believes gives Roxtec a competitive advantage.

Mr Light brings his vast experience in IT infrastructure, design and installation to the table.

In his new role, he is set to expand Roxtec's offerings, working closely with design houses, engineers and data centre owners.

On his appointment, he said: "I am excited to join a company that has so many years’ worth of industry experience across a huge range of sectors, observing controlled and sustainable growth along every step of the way to become the global leader in pipe and cable safety seals."

He also sees his role as instrumental in supporting ambitious new data centre and IT infrastructure projects while expanding the firm's reputation.

"I genuinely cannot wait to demonstrate my skills and abilities to Roxtec and its customers as we continue to strive for engineering excellence and innovation," he added.

Roxtec, founded in Sweden in 1990, operates in more than 80 markets globally.

The UK and Ireland subsidiary has a turnover of more than £10 million and a committed team of 25.
