Bury South MP Christian Wakeford has praised a borough children's breakfast club for its efforts.
During a recent visit to the children's breakfast club and food pantry at St Andrew's Church in Whitefield, Mr Wakeford found out the club's importance in providing crucial support to families throughout the summer holidays.
The club, running in partnership with Onward Housing, offers additional activities such as fitness sessions by the council's "living well" team, arts and crafts, children's cooking classes and a family sports day.
Additional support comes from Donna Webb of the "Happy me" community, who offers social prescribing later in the afternoon.
Mr Wakeford said: "This is a great help for families over the summer holidays.
"It gives children a chance to play, to be with their friends, as well as supporting families with the extra costs.
"In our manifesto we’ve committed to introducing fully-funded breakfast clubs for primary school children in England, giving ever primary school child a proper meal before the start of the day."

Mr Wakeford also visited the charity shop and food pantry managed by Fran Lawson, Angela and Karen.
Despite experiencing a drop in donations and a waiting list for membership, the food pantry is still a lifeline for many.

Mr Wakeford asked how individuals could provide help, to which Ms Lawson said they are happily welcoming donations of long-life milk, pasta, beans, cooking oil, coffee, canned goods and toiletries.
They also urgently need bedding, towels, toasters, kettles, shoes and school uniforms.
Those wanting to assist can get in touch through the organisation's Facebook page or at collections in Stand Church in Whitefield and St George's in Unsworth.
