The inquest into the death of Stuart Everett opened at Bolton Coroner’s Court today (Friday).

Stuart’s remains were found in Kersal Dale Wetlands, near Prestwich, on April 4, and at other locations later that month.

Police Coroner’s Officer Collette Hargreaves said that the 67-year-old was born in Derby and at the time of his death was an NHS call advisor living on Worsley Road in Eccles.

She said: “He was declared deceased on April 4, and on April 5 he was identified by DNA evidence.”

A post-mortem examination has been conducted and the cause of death was found to be blunt force head injuries.

A police investigation opened into Stuart’s death on May 8 and his remains have not yet been released pending a second post-mortem.

Two men have been charged in relation to his death and that case is now proceeding through crown court.

Coroner Professor Dr Alan P Walsh said that he will allow the crown court proceedings to be finalised before the inquest is held and has set a review date for November 1, 2024.

Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, both of Worsley Road, Eccles, have been charged with Mr Everett's murder.

They will face a trial provisionally set for March 3 next year.

In a tribute to Mr Everett released by his family in the aftermath of his death, they said they were “united in our grief.”

The statement said: “He loved his food, his garden, his music and a flutter on the horses, we have been overwhelmed with the messages of support and are thankful that so many people thought so much of him.

“He did not deserve to die the way he did and will be eternally missed. RIP.”
