A lottery-style football-themed game has made a 20-year-old woman £10,000 richer.

Carys Naisbitt from Bury won the grand prize in SPAR's Win With Every Goal campaign, after signing up to the promotion for the 2024 European Championships.

She was presented with a cheque for the winnings outside SPAR Tottington.

The college leaver, who is looking for an apprenticeship, was one of 80,000 people who entered the game.

When joining, she spun a virtual wheel, which assigned her England as her team.

The game was launched on June 6 and ran until the end of the tournament on July 14.

It involved spinning a wheel to get assigned a team, and players received instant prizes whenever their team scored or conceded a goal.

Daily scratch cards could also be played for more chances to win.

After winning, Carys said: "I was in my mum’s car taking our cat to the vets when I took the call to say I was the winner.

"I missed the first couple of calls and was in complete shock when I heard I had won the grand prize.

"I participated in Win With Every Goal last time and when I saw it was coming back on social media I was excited to see it return."

After her win, Carys is looking forward to treating her family to a sunny Mediterranean holiday and saving up for a car of her own.

Carys said: "I haven’t been abroad on holiday since I was six, so a nice sunny Mediterranean holiday with family is probably top of the list of things to do with the money."

Niels Dekkers, marketing and IT director at SPAR said: "Congratulations to Carys, our SPAR North of England Win With Every Goal £10,000 grand prize winner."
