A themed Halloween event is returning to the East Lancashire Railway (ELR) this October.

The legendary 'scream train' will be back on the Bury line for Halloween fun and live entertainment which promises “fresh twists and new surprises.”

The heritage railway will be transformed with elaborate decorations and eerie lighting, setting the stage for spooky scarecrows to leave their posts and haunt the railway.

Mike Kelly, chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said, "We are incredibly excited to welcome visitors back to our Halloween Scream Train event. 

“This year promises to be our best yet, with new themes and surprises that will delight and frighten guests of all ages. 

“It's a fantastic opportunity for families to create unforgettable Halloween memories together."

Featuring animatronic ghouls and live actors ready to deliver scares at any moment, it promises to be a truly immersive experience for all.

There will be a pumpkin-themed haunted house walkthrough and creepy characters such as ‘Zombie Bob and his Monster Squad’ will be on the loose.

The friendly fiends from the ELR Monster Squad will also be there to join in the spooky fun.

Every child who attends will receive a goody bag and lucky attendees could be crowned pump-King or pump-Queen by participating in the fancy dress competition. 

Halloween trains will be running from October 24 - 26, with special trains running on October 31 and ticket prices starting from £14.00.
