Bury's MPs have expressed their optimism over changes that are set to be made following the announcement of the King's Speech last week.
Bury North MP James Frith and Bury South MP, who both represent Labour, have praised the speech, which marked the State Opening of Parliament, with 40 bills announced - the highest number since 2005.
Among those named was the Football Governance Bill, which will see the introduction of a football regulator and help protect clubs from being plagued by financial problems, like what happened with Bury FC before it was expelled from the Football League in 2019.
Mr Frith said: "The Labour government is not wasting any time getting on with the job of change.
"The King’s Speech is an ambitious programme to fix our country.
"Economic security with growth, ending the chaos of the last 14 years, new homes, with rental reform and social and affordable housing, cheaper bills with GB energy and wealth creation across our country handing power to our towns and regional mayor.
"In Bury, we can be proud of our work to ensure this Labour government will create a football regulator so that our hardships with Bury FC are not in vain.
"The Hillsborough Law, also included, will ensure a duty of candour on public bodies to tell the truth so the dark decades of cover-ups and scandals are brought to an end with justice for the victims of successive cover-ups, whether on Hillsborough, infected blood, the Post Office submasters and Windrush to name only some."

Mr Wakeford said: "The King’s Speech will help deliver the change that families and businesses in Bury have been crying out for.
“It’s a plan that will mean more jobs, better transport, new homes and investment in the infrastructure we need – ultimately, it’s an agenda to take the brakes off Britain and get Bury moving again.
“After 14 wasted years, we finally have a real plan to create wealth in every community – including right here in Bury South.
“This is a government in the service of working people, and this King’s Speech is a great start to a decade of national renewal.”

Prime Minster Keir Starmer said it will be a "government of service".
He said “My government will be committed to uniting the country in our shared mission of national renewal.
"We will serve every person, regardless of how they voted, to fix the foundations of this nation for the long term.
"The era of politics as performance and self-interest above service is over.
“The fight for trust is the battle that defines our political era. It is only by serving the interests of working people, and delivering real change that transforms lives, that we can begin to restore people’s faith that politics can be a force for good.
"Rebuilding our country will not happen overnight. The challenges we face require determined, patient work and serious solutions, rather than the temptation of the easy answer.
"The snake oil charm of populism may sound seductive, but it drives us into the dead end of further division and greater disappointment.”
