Thank you for electing me as your Member of Parliament for Bury North. I am deeply honoured by the trust and support shown to me.

To the voters who have placed their trust in me, thank you. Your faith in me and the Labour Party is both humbling and inspiring.

To those who did not vote for me, I promise also to work tirelessly on your behalf.

I am here to represent everyone across our magnificent towns, addressing our shared concerns whether locally, nationally, and internationally.

I will seek unity, celebrate the dignity of our differences, and champion our common causes. I will be a voice for all. I will do my best for you.

A special thanks goes to the police for ensuring the smooth running of this election despite the troubling trend of harassment in our politics. This is a trend we must end.

I would also like to extend my thanks to James Daly for his time as MP for Bury North.

This election victory represents a vote for a Labour Party focused on the priorities of ordinary families, of working and retired people. We will build economic security, ensure lower bills, make safer streets, revitalise our NHS, secure our borders, and get better opportunities for all of our children.

The scale of the challenges cannot be underestimated. There is no magic wand, but the Labour Party is laser-focused on ensuring a brighter future for Bury and Britain.

We will not revert to the chaotic politics and gimmicks of the populist right. Politics must serve the public, and we must restore faith and integrity in our politics as a force for good.

It’s time to end the chaos and dysfunction in Westminster and start renewing our country.

I will get on with the job you have sent me to Westminster to do. My priorities include reducing the shameful levels of child poverty in Bury North and reducing the wait times for surgery at Fairfield.

Whether at a national, Greater Manchester or Bury level, Bury North expects our fair share and the best possible deal for our people and I’m right behind this.

It is the honour of my life to serve as your MP.

Let me put on these pages my thanks also to my wonderful family, especially my incredible wife Nikki and our four beautiful children, who have been my rock. After defeat by the narrowest of margins in 2019, they helped me get back up, dust off, go again, and win again.

I am proud to set this example for them and, readers, you can know it is this level of determination I will bring for Bury North.
