More than 100 golfers participated in the annual Bury Hospice Golf Day on Friday, July 5, making it a roaring success.

Thirty one teams, formed from local community and corporate organisations, got together for a bit of friendly competition at Bury Golf Club, to play in support of our worthy cause.

The fun-filled day was headline sponsored by Circle Leasing Ltd. It included a chipping contest, a silent auction, and a raffle with an array of fantastic prizes which were kindly donated to the hospice.

The golfers also had the opportunity to challenge themselves by attempting to beat the professional golfer, James Rowlands, in a nearest the pin competition, which a fair few actually did.

The sun shone down on the players, perfectly showcasing the 18 hole semi-moorland golf course in all its glory.

The teams played their rounds in staggered starts, with the final team of the day being the Bury Golf Club captains.

Lady vice captain Sue Warrington said: “It was such a lovely day. Thank you for inviting us Bury Golf Club captains and vice captains to join in the event.

“We had an amazing day and the club is very happy to support such a worthwhile local charity which serves our community so brilliantly.”

The amount raised this year was a staggering £11,796, a sum that could not have been achieved without donations from our committed supporters who took part on the day and behind the scenes.

All funds will go towards supporting patients facing palliative and end-of-life care journeys, as well their families.

The date for next year’s golf day is pencilled in for Friday, July 4, 2025.

“Thank you to everybody who supported us.”
