Thousands of people tackled the Tough Mudder challenge at Heaton Park at the weekend.

The park, near Prestwich, was transformed into an obstacle course for the iconic challenge on Saturday and Sunday, which tested competitors' physical endurance to the limit.

Competitors battled through mud pits, towering walls, challenging obstacles and ice-cold water challenges.

Organisers asked those who got involved to "embrace the beauty of the challenge by conquering their fears by working together to create unforgettable memories in the true spirit of Tough Mudder".

Tough Mudder has more than 20 obstacles, is 10km long and aims to push people beyond their comfort zone, from the "Mud Mile" to the "Everest 2.0".

As well as the main course, the much-loved Lidl Mudder also returned for children to get involved.

The one-mile adventure provides children with a chance to experience the thrill of overcoming obstacles in a supportive and fun environment.

Tough Mudder managing director Matthew Brookes said: “We were thrilled to welcome thousands of enthusiasts over the weekend at Tough Mudder Manchester 2024.

“Heaton Park was transformed into a haven for those looking to test their limits, as stunning landscapes and challenging terrain combined with our most iconic obstacles.

“This year, we invited participants to embrace the beauty of the challenge by conquering their fears by working together to create unforgettable memories in the true spirit of Tough Mudder.”
