High Country is a new Australian mystery-drama series that will be airing on BBC One very soon, but what's it all about?
Described as a "fictional story inspired by true events" it follows Detective Andrea 'Andie' Whitford who is transferred to the Victorian High Country.
Once there she is thrust into a case involving five missing persons who have vanished into the wilderness.
The BBC website adds: "Through an edge-of-the-seat, high-stakes investigation, Andie uncovers a complex web involving murder, deceit and revenge."
Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: ‘With its eerie setting and tense atmosphere, High Country is a gripping new take on Australian rural noir’.
High Country was filmed predominantly on location in the Victorian Alps, with lead star Leah Purcell saying it offered a side to Australia you don't usually see.
Speaking to Concrete Playground she said: "Normally it's the reds and the brown and the heat. I fell in love with the high country when I did Jindabyne and Somersault in that area. And I just went 'gee, we don't utilise this landscape enough'.
"Then when I got the idea to pursue The Drover's Wife, I said 'we've got to do it in the high country and have that beautiful big sky, and the blues and the greens that we don't see'.
"Even when I was selling the project overseas, people said 'what, there's snow and green in Australia?'. And I thought 'yes, there is'."
