A number of people from Bury have recently been before the courts.

Magistrates courts have dealt with a variety of offences including driving matters, sending threatening messages and using a TV without a licence.

Przemyslaw Macniak drove a Vauxhall Insignia on Queens Road, Manchester, above the drink drive limit last month.

The 42-year-old was breathalysed and found to have 49 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Macniak admitted the offence at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

The man, of Bury Old Road, Whitefield, was banned from the roads for a year and fined £280.

Jason Povey drove a Vauxhall Combo on Tottington Road, Bury, earlier this month while banned from driving.

The 53-year-old admitted the offence at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

Povey, of Harwood Crescent, Tottington, was given a sentence of 12 weeks suspended for a year.

He was ordered to complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirements as part of this.

Kieran Brennan used a television set without a licence in January this year.

The 30-year-old was found guilty of the offence at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court.

Brennan, of Mill Road, Bury, was fined £60.

Dale Tobias sent text messages which were indecent and grossly offensive to a woman in Rochdale.

The offence took place in May this year.

The 27-year-old admitted the offence at Tameside Magistrates' Court.

Following this he was placed on a community order to last for a year.

As part of this Tobias, of St John’s Court, Ramsbottom, was ordered to complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He was also ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work within this time period.
