Bury's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Ten of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures are already in place and is expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 8pm on May 8 to 6am on June 29, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound, M66, junction 1 to A56 / A680, junction due to a carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• M60, from 9pm on Monday, June 10 to 6am on Saturday, June 15, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 clockwise, junction 18 to junction 19 due to a carriageway closure for white lining/road markings.

A further 10 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A56, from 9pm tonight, Tuesday, June 11 to 5am on Thursday, June 13, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm on Wedneday, June 12 to 5am on Thursday, June 13, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M60 anti-clockwise junction 18 to junction 17 due to a lane closure for communications.

• A56, from 9pm on Thursday, June 13 to 5am on Saturday, June 15, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to bent gate due to a carriageway closure for horticulture. 

• M60, from 9pm on Saturday, June 15 to 5am on Monday, June 17, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M60 both directions, junction 19 to junction 20 due to lane closure for permanent barriers. 

• M60, from 9pm on Saturday, June 15 to 5am on Sunday, June 16, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 both directions, junction 16 to junction 18 due to a carriageway closure for communications.

• A56, from 9pm on Saturday, June 15 to 5am on Monday, June 17, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: A56 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to bent gate due to a carriageway closure for horticulture.

• M66, from 9pm on Monday, June 17 to 5am on Tuesday, June 18, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 both directions, junction 2 to junction 3 due to a carriageway closure for horticulture. 

• M66, from 9pm on Tuesday, June 18 to 5am on Wednesday, June 19, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction three due to two lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm on Friday, June 21 to 5am on Sunday, June 23, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 clockwise junction 17 to 18 on the M66 northbound, junction three due to two lane closures and carriageway closures.

• M60, from 9pm on Sunday, June 23 to 5am on Tuesday, June 25, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M62 eastbound, junction 17 to junction 19 due to a carriageway closure for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
