Drivers in and around Bury will have nine National Highways road closures to watch out for in the next two weeks.

Eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure is already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 8pm on May 8 to 6am on Saturday, June 29, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound, M66, junction 1 to A56 / A680, junction due to carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

A further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M66, from 9.30am to 3.30pm today, Tuesday, June 4, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 northbound, junction 4 to junction 3 due to a lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

• M66, from 8pm on Thursday, June 6 to 6am on Friday, June 7, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 northbound, junction 2 to junction 1 due to lane closure for sign erection.

• M66, from 9pm on Friday, June 7 to 5am on Sunday, June 9, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 both directions junction 2 to junction 3 due to lane closures for permanent barriers.

• A56, from 9pm on Sunday, June 9 to 5am on Tuesday, June 11, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm on Monday, June 10 to 6am on Saturday, June 15, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 clockwise, junction 18 to junction 19 due to a carriageway closure for white lining/road markings.

• A56, from 9pm on Tuesday, June 11 to 5am on Thursday, June 13, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 due to a two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• A56, from 9pm on Thursday, June 13 to 5am on Saturday, June 15, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to bent gate due to a carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• M66, from 9pm on Monday, June 17 to 5am on Tuesday, June 18, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 both directions, junction 2 to junction 3 due to a carriageway closure for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
