Drivers in and around Bury will have nine National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Five of them are expected to cause moderate delays with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A56, from 8pm on May 8 to 6am on Saturday, June 29, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound, M66, junction 1 to A56 / A680, junction due to a carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

A further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 9pm tonight, Thursday, May 30 to 5am on Friday, May 31, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 clockwise junction 17 to junction 18 due to a carriageway closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 8pm on Monday, June 3 to 5am on Tuesday, June 4, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M60 anti-clockwise junction 18 to junction 17 due to a carriageway closure for communications.

• M60, from 9pm on Monday, June 3 to 5am on Tuesday, June 4, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M62 both directions lane closures and slip closures with Simister Island Roundabout carriageway closure on the north side of roundabout.

• M66, from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Tuesday, June 4, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 northbound, junction 4 to junction 3 due to a lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

• M66, from 9pm on Tuesday, June 4 to 5am on Thursday, June 6, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 due to a lane closure for barrier/fence safety repairs.

• M66, from 8pm on Thursday, June 6 to 6am on Friday, June 7, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 northbound, junction 2 to junction 1 due to lane closure for putting up signs.

• M66, from 9pm on Friday, June 7 to 5am on Sunday, June 9, slight delays of under 10 minutes: M66 both directions junction 2 to junction 3 due to lane closure for permanent barriers.

• A56, from 9pm on Sunday, June 9 to 5am on Tuesday, June 11, moderate delays of 10-30 minutes: M66 northbound and southbound, junction 0 - two lane closure carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
