Primary school children and staff in Ainsworth are appealing for donations to help them replace their outdoor activity trail that is falling into disrepair.
Christ Church Ainsworth CofE Primary School on Tommy Lane in Ainsworth Village has launched a JustGiving fundraiser with a target of £3,000 to try and repair or fully replace the outdoor activity trail.
Headteacher David Gerrard said the trail had been there for around 14 years however sections keep becoming condemned and two sections have already been taken out due to them being unsafe.

He said: “We can’t afford to replace it as we’re in debt and struggling for money, therefore we have different people trying to raise money for it.
“The £3,000 we’re raising is just to repair what we have, what we’d really like to do is raise around £7,000 or £8,000 to replace the whole thing.”
Staff are unsure how long the rest of the current trail will last and the school could be left with no trail at all if they don’t receive enough donations.
Mr Gerrard said: “In the current climate the school can’t afford to replace it from its own budget.
“It’s disappointing that we have to go to these sources to provide something that really should be part of our responsibility.”

Students from the Pupil Leadership Team - Isabelle, Amelia, Isabella, Charlie, Zach and Finley – spoke about why they would love for the trail to be replaced.
Amelia said: “We’d be very happy as everyone enjoys it. It’s something entertaining to do on the playground.”
Finley added: “Our days are split out for all the sports and each day one class won’t have any sport or something to do as this is classed as one of the sports options.”
They all said they’d love for a swinging bridge and monkey bars to be added to the trail in the future.
