A pensioner was "violently assaulted" in Bury town centre today, Sunday.
The victim, aged 77, was attacked near the former Wilko Store on The Rock at around 12.40pm.
Police have released two CCTV pictures of a masked cyclist in a bid to identify the suspect as part of their investigation.
The offender has been described as a white male, around 5'7 in height, of a medium build and wearing a face covering.
Sharing two pictures of a masked cyclist on social media, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "We are currently seeking help from members of the public in tracing the below suspect.
"On Sunday, May 19, at approximately 12.40pm, a 77 year old member of the public was violently assaulted near to the former Wilko store on The Rock by an unknown suspect.
"The suspect entered Bury town centre from the direction of Bolton Street and made their way down The Rock towards the Wilko store.
"CCTV has been obtained from the area but unfortunately the offender was wearing a balaclava."
