A Fairfield General Hospital worker says she was sent a "penny from heaven" after winning the Made in Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw.
Rebecca Battle, who works on the hospital's mental health ward, has scooped the prize with ticket number 23476.
Rebecca has been working at Fairfield General for 19 years and is due to start a new role soon as an activities co-ordinator, delivering therapeutic activities for inpatients.
While usually the draw team would be really excited to share the stories of surprising its winners, unfortunately it was a little different for Rebecca.
Rebecca, along with her sisters, Anna and Joanne, spent four days in hospital at the bedside of their dad, Thomas Battle.
Thomas had dementia for the last five years and has been well looked after by Burrswood Care Home in Bury. Sadly he has now died.
When the draw team called Rebecca to tell her the news that she had won, she was understandably emotional.
She said that it was her dad that made her win happen, sending "a penny from heaven".
The team, who usually visit winners and take a celebratory photograph with a cheque, completely understood if Rebecca and her family did not want visitors.
However, Rebecca was happy for the team to pay her and her sister, Anna, a visit for the "special gift" from their dad.
Rebecca will be using the money towards giving her beloved dad the "most beautiful send off" and said she would like to thank all the staff at Burrswood for taking care of him.
The team send their condolences to Rebecca, Anna, Joanne and all the family at this sad time.
The team said it is glad the lucky ticket had a "pinch of love from heaven, just when it was needed the most".
If you would like to win like Rebecca, go to draw.madeinbury.co.uk for tickets.
