A new 'red route' - banning parking along one of Bury's main roads - is set to come into effect.
Road signs promoting the restriction have been installed by council engineers recently.
Automatic number plate recognition cameras form part of the initiative, which will see offending drivers fined for parking anywhere along the designated area.
Revisions to the 'red route' scheme were signed off by borough operations director Donna Ball in early April.
Councillors in Moorside ward had previously staged a public consultation on the proposal, for a stretch between Peel Way and Birch Street.
A council decision notice reads: "Revisions to the original proposals include the reduction of bay length on the east of Walmersley Road and the changing of the bay from a shared use loading and limited waiting bay to be loading only.
"The reason for this is to remove a pinch point and to improve the alignment of the carriageway lanes at this location which will help improve free flowing traffic and reduce congestion.
"The proposals also link in with Transport for Greater Manchester’s aims of reducing congestion on strategic road corridors throughout (the city region) and help fulfil the council’s obligations of keeping the strategic road network free of congestion and obstructions."
